Admitting that you are finding things tough is harder than you think it might be. Us British people like to believe that we are strong and unbreakable. But that isn’t always the case.
There are times when we fall off the wagon, and lose it completely. Times when we just don’t have a clue what we are doing in life anymore. These periods in our lives can be extremely difficult and challenging. Not just for the individual that is going through the bumpy patch, but for the people around them too.
2 years ago I got into working in the fitness industry and loved it. However, 2 years on from that, I have realised that it isn’t the career for me – for now anyway. I adore health and fitness, but when you make a hobby your full time job it can damage your passion. After deciding to go self employed a few months ago, I have realised things about myself that I never knew before. I have been an absolute nightmare to live with due to the stress that comes alongside running your own business (my poor boyfriend). I have felt lonely, depressed and bored. The euphoric release and enjoyment I once got from training has dwindled and my diet has been the worst it in as ever been. I have never put as much pressure on myself as I have in the last few months. Gosh, I sound so doom and gloom!
Anyway, the point I am trying to make is that it is ok to take a rain check on what you are doing. It is ok to try something and not enjoy it as much as you thought you would. It’s ok to reevaluate your aspirations and goals. It is ok to admit that you are finding things hard. Learn lessons from the experiences that you have, and carry those snippets of wisdom with you. You need to chase that thing that makes you leap out of bed in the morning with a smile on your face, and sometimes that thing can change.
I am so glad that my path has lead me to this point, as I have met some amazing people along the way and learnt an incredible amount about myself. I know what I need to do to get myself back on the right track, and I know that my next journey is going to be spectacular and exciting!
Always be kind to yourself, and always stay true to yourself.
